magnetic particle testing

That is, the use of a magnetic field and detection means to locate discontinuities in the ferromagnetic materials on the tested surface or lying at a depth of up to about 2 mm.

The essence of the test is to use an appropriate conductor through which a current is passed, around which a magnetic field is generated. The magnetic field forces caused by the scattering flux attract the ferromagnetic particles of the magnetic powder used, which accumulate above the defect sites and give clear indications. With this method, we detect defects with a depth of up to about 2 mm and, of course, defects on the tested surface. The test surface must be clean, free from any contamination. This method is applicable to the study of ferromagnetic materials.
